The thyroid: the key to metabolism, energy and recovery
The thyroid gland is an endocrine gland located in the front of the neck, in front of the larynx. It consists of two lobes and produces thyroid hormones containing iodine, which are responsible for the metabolism of substances in the body. When these hormones are not present in sufficient quantities, hypothyroidism develops, a condition that manifests itself with bloating, drowsiness, fatigue and memory problems. In the complete absence of thyroid hormones, a person can even die.
The normal functioning of the thyroid gland is extremely important for basic biological processes, such as tissue growth and development.
The thyroid also has its nerve centers, located in the neck, which control it and form a functional whole with it, even though they are outside the organ itself.
In the event of severe stress, loss of a loved one, divorce, fear, and other emotional upheaval, these nerve centers are activated. This leads to an overload of the gland and a sharp increase in hormone production, which can literally cause hyperthyroidism in a matter of hours.
