My husband booked first-class seats for him and his mother, and then handed me three economy class tickets with the kids – so I taught him a lesson before the plane even took off.

"I want to cancel the master suite where my husband and mother-in-law were registered.

There were a few seconds of silence.

"Do you want to cancel the entire reservation?"

"No. Only that room.

"Understood. What about booking the Premium Family Suite?
I smiled.

"That one stays exactly as it is... in my name.

Five minutes later I received the confirmation email.

Roger had no idea.

When we landed four hours later, he walked out of first class with a huge smile.

"Did you see how comfortable the flight was?" he asked.

"I imagine.

We took a taxi to the hotel.

While I checked in with the kids, Roger waited behind me with his arms crossed.

The receptionist handed me a card.

"Welcome back, Mrs. Laura. Your Premium Family Suite is ready.

Roger stepped forward.

"Perfect. And our suite?

The receptionist checked the computer.

He frowned.

"I'm sorry, sir... That room was canceled this morning.
